Summer of Chicago: Day 4 and the Departure

Apologies again for having such a drastic time gap in between relaying my adventures in Chicago. I’ve been pumped busy with catching up with old friends and attending to future endeavors in my school life. Nevertheless, it should not disturb my ability to log the good vibes I feel throughout my summer. Furthermore, I’ve been feeling some really good vibes this past week, on which I will write a bit more about throughout this week. Be on the lookout for a couple new restaurant posts and music posts.

For now, I’ll just recall the last day I spent in Chicago. Though it only lasted for a couple of hours, we were able to get up in time to check out one more Chicago hot spot before leaving for home.

Summer of Chicago: Day 3 – Part 2

Before I begin retelling the second part of my third day in Chicago, I want to apologize for not posting this sooner. All intentions pointed to a post date of five days ago, but I just never came around to finishing my post.

Like I said, my third day of Chicago was pretty jam packed and for me, very fulfilling and interesting. Thus, I decided to split the day into two parts, the former focusing on The Field Museum and The Bongo Room, while the latter focusing on the highlight of my entire trip – The Art Institute of Chicago.

Summer of Chicago: Day 3 – Part 1

Whenever I’m in a new city, the thing I look most forward to doing is just taking my time to absorb the energy the city provides and channel into my body. Every city has a different atmosphere, a different vibe that it gives off. For example, when I’m in New York City, the energy is very frenetic, fast-paced, and changing all the time; thus, whenever I’m there, my gait is always double as quick compared to when I’m strolling in Columbus and every step has a purpose.

On Saturday, I was blessed with the opportunity to spend a nice block of time away from my family and venture into the city at my own pace on my own agenda. For 6 hours, I was free to indulge in me-time.

Summer of Chicago: Day 2

For those that read the post on my first day in Chicago, hello again! For those who are reading this blog for the first time, I’ll fill you in a little (you haven’t missed much). Starting July 17, I’ve been on a mini-vacation in the Midwest golden city of Chicago with my family. Due to my traveling circumstances (being with family whereas usually I would be with peers/friends), the majority of my time in Chicago will be spent exploring the major tourist areas and highlighting the ups and downs of them.

On a continuation of last post, I spent my second day in Chicago further exploring the crown jewels of tourism that Chicago had to offer. We spent most of the morning and afternoon at the main feature of the day — the John G. Shedd Aquarium, or simply known as Shedd Aquarium.

Summer of Chicago: Day 1

Greetings, fellow earthlings and web surfers. I’ll be happy to let you know that for the past two days, I have been spending my time in the great Midwest capital city of Chicago. This is not my first time in Chicago (I’ve been here two other times prior to this trip). However, it will be the first time that I get to experience Chicago outside of Michigan Avenue. Yes, I’ve had a very minute look at Chicago over the course of my last two visits. The extent of my knowledge on Chicago ranges from 800 N. Michigan Avenue (Park Hyatt, my previous residing spot) to the famous Bean in the middle of Millennium Park so to say I haven’t seen much of Chicago is an understatement. Thus, it was my goal this trip to at least become acquainted to the high populace areas of downtown Chicago and to familiarize myself with the cliches and hot spots (and determine how overrated, underrated, or “just right” rated they were).

Note about Summer of Chicago content: Due to traveling with a family that includes a 2 year old half-brother, the following activities done in Chicago are mostly geared towards tourist spots that are family oriented. Nothing wrong with touristy since I haven’t seen much of Chicago before. However, expect future travel posts regarding Chicago to be more local based and on a smaller, less known radar.
